		삼성이 올 시즌 전 내세운 국야2부리그중계 야구 콘셉트는 내·외야를 오가는 멀티 포지션과 득점권 상황에서 팀 배팅 강조였다. 상대적으로 부족하다고 평가받는 야수 전력을 다른 방향으로 상쇄해 운영하겠단 전략이었다. 하지만, 선수들의 멀티 포지션 적응과 더불어 팀 배팅과 뛰는 야구를 시즌 내내 효율적으로 운영하기는 쉽지 않았다. 올 시즌 삼성 팀 타선 WAR(대체선수 대비 승리 기여도)는 리그 8위(15.66)에 그쳤다. 팀 OPS(출루율+장타율) 역시 리그 8위(0.732)다. 무엇보다 시즌 아시아축구중계 일정 절반을 치르는 홈구장에서 홈런을 쏘아 올린 개수(79개)보다 홈런을 맞은 개수(93개)가 더 맞은 점이 뼈아프다. 이 홈런 마진을 뒤집어야 삼성도 홈구장의 이점을 살릴 수 있다. 내년 시즌 팀 타선에서 박해민·김상수·구자욱·김동엽으로 이어지는 상위 타순이 고정된다면 5번과 6번에서 또 장타력에 힘을 보탤 자원이 있어야 한다. 강민호의 경우 체력 소모가 심한 포지션인 포수기에 시즌 내내 상위 타순에 넣긴 쉽지 않다. 결국, 외국인 타자 혹은 외부 FA 영입 자원이 거포로서 그 뒤를 받쳐주는 게 가장 이상적인 시나리오다. 이렇게 타선 보강 필요성을 뼈저리게 느낀 삼성은 올겨울 외부 FA 영입에 나선다. 시즌 막판까지만 해도 윗선의 지원 프로야구분석 가능성이 희박했지만, 시즌 종료 뒤 구단 프런트 진의 적극적인 외부 영입 의사와 물밑 노력으로 FA 참전 예산을 얻었다.
