		두산 베어스에서 활약한 우완 투수 크리스 플렉센(26)의 시애틀 매리너스 계약이 최종 완료됐다. 시애틀은 19일(이하 한국시간) 서울이사업체 플렉센과 계약을 공식 발표했다. 지난 10일 계약 합의 소식이 전해졌지만 시애틀의 40인 로스터 조정으로 발표가 조금 늦어졌다. 유틸리티 야수 팀 로페스가 방출 대기 조치되면서 플렉센이 들어왔다. ‘MLB.com’에 따르면 플렉센은 2021~2022년 보장 총액 475만 달러를 받는다. 계약금 60만 달러에 연봉은 2021년 140만 달러, 사다리차요금 2022년 275만 달러. 2023년 연봉 400만 달러 계약은 팀 옵션이다. 2021~2022년 도합 300이닝 또는 2022년 150이닝 이상 던질 경우 800만 달러 계약이 자동 실행되는 베스팅 옵션까지 포함됐다. 제리 디포토 시애틀 단장은 “플렉센 영입이 우리 팀 투수진에 큰 보탬이 될 것이라 믿는다. 올해 플렉센이 투수로서 보여준 성숙함, 필드 위에서 퍼포먼스가 인상적이었다. 나이도 26세로 젊은 선수들을 성장시키고 있는 우리 팀에 잘 어울린다”고 기대했다. 플렉센은 “매리너스 구단의 영등포이사업체 일원이 돼 매우 흥분된다. 이 구단은 많은 재능을 가진 팀으로 그들과 함께 경쟁하길 기대한다”고 말했다. 시애틀은 내년 시즌 본격적인 6인 선발 로테이션을 구상 중이라 플렉센이 선발 한 자리를 보장받을 것으로 기대되고 있다.
